John Glenn School Principal's Notes

On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff it is my pleasure to welcome you to the John H. Glenn School’s official website. Our team approach at the John H. Glenn School focuses on educating the “whole” child by emphasizing academic achievement as well as moral character and civic virtue.

Academically, our standards-based curriculum focuses on language literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, health, art, music, and technology. Reading and writing across the curriculum, cooperative learning techniques, and the latest methods in mathematics instruction assist in preparing our students for all standardized testing. Technology is state of the art at the Glenn School with a steam lab, class chrome books, and a Smart Board in every classroom. Students’ academic accomplishments are celebrated through our Honor Roll certificates and celebrations, Glenn’s greatest monthly celebrations, and Accelerated Reader dog tags and certificates.

In order to promote positive social interaction and a sense of civic responsibility, the Glenn School is committed to a strong character education program that focuses on infusing core essential character traits throughout the school day. Students have an opportunity to get involved in instrumental music, choir, band, art enrichment, safety patrol, field day, GT program, and our Fine Arts Night.

Community involvement is very important to the success of the Glenn School. Parents and community members are encouraged to get involved by participating in our School Site Council, a school based management group, as well as our P.T.O., which involves parents in varied projects throughout the year.

It is my privilege to serve as Principal of the John Glenn School, and with such a caring and dedicated staff every student will have the opportunity to reach both academic and social success. Should questions or concerns arise, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome your input into the educational process. Have a wonderful school year.
